  • How long should I grow my hair out before booking a waxing appointment?

    As waxing removes hair directly from the root, it is extremely important that clients follow a strict growing routine between each appointment. This not only ensures that your waxing treatment will be as painless as possible, but it also helps prevent damage to your skin that can be irritating afterwards. 


    Therefore, before coming to your waxing appointment, we ask that clients please wait at least 4 – 5 weeks in between appointments to ensure abundant growth of approximately ¼ inch long. This will help guarantee that you will experience effective results that last.

  • How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?

    Besides growing out your hair 4 – 5 weeks before your appointment or ¼ inch, please take note of the following pre-appointment tips to ensure excellent results that last:


    • For smoother final results, take a shower before your appointment and lightly exfoliate the targeted area. This will also provide you with a more straightforward hair removal process.
    • To help minimize discomfort during your appointment, take Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment.
    • Avoid any blood thinners 24 hours before your waxing appointment.
    • If you are currently taking any medications that make your skin sensitive, please inform us before your appointment to tailor our service techniques to your needs.
    • Please let us know if you are on your period or are currently pregnant before your appointment with us so that we can customize your experience to fit your needs.
    • Avoid activities such as tanning or steam rooms before your appointment.

  • What should I do after my waxing appointment?

    To ensure optimal results that last until your next waxing appointment, please follow the aftercare instructions listed below:


    • Following your wax appointment, wear comfortable, loose clothing to allow your skin to breathe and avoid irritation.
    • Avoid activities such as hot yoga, tanning, steam rooms, and more that are heat-related to avoid the growth of bacteria from sweating.
    • Do not trim or shave between your waxing appointments.
    • Begin exfoliating the treated area two days after your appointment. This will ensure dead skin removal and prevent ingrown hairs from growing.
    • Try and stay consistent with your waxing routine by booking your appointments 5 – 6 weeks apart to ensure enough hair growth for optimal results.

  • What types of wax do you offer?

    Younique Centre of Beauty is pleased to offer two types of waxing products for our clients:


    Soft Wax 


    The first type of waxing we offer is soft wax. This type of wax is applied to the body in a thin layer using a waxing tool. Our technicians then apply a cloth strip to the drying wax to remove the hair by pulling it quickly. This type of wax is great for large areas of the body. 


    Hard Wax  


    We also use hard wax to treat smaller areas of the body, such as the upper lip area, bikini line, and underarms. This type of wax is applied to the skin, where it dries completely before it is pulled off the area in the direction opposite of your natural hair growth. This type of wax is generally less painful than other waxing techniques and does not damage or irritate the skin.

  • How far in advance should I book if I am going on vacation?

    Here at Younique Centre of Beauty, we recommend that clients book 2 – 3 days in advance of them leaving for vacation or before any important event they may have. This allows time for any irritation to subside and for your skin to reduce in redness. As everyone is different, it is essential that you test how you react to waxing techniques. Therefore, if you are booking your first waxing appointment, we recommend that you book at least one prior appointment before your event to ensure that your body does not react negatively to the treatment.
